It's officially summer! Now while most people are more aware these days about skin safety in the sun and the use of sunblock - please don't forget about your precious eyes!
UV Rays & Your Eyes
Harmful UV rays not only affect your skin, but can have an impact on your eyes as well. UVA and UVB are two harmful rays from the sunlight. UVA rays can penetrate through our skin causing long term damage, while UVB rays burn the superficial layers of the skin and are the main cause of skin cancers.
Prevention!
I can't stress enough how important it is to keep your eyes protected from the sun every time you walk outside, even on overcast days. You want to make sure you are wearing UV blocking sunglasses and try to get them as dark as possible. Also, be mindful of the style of sunglasses you purchase, make sure they are close-fitting and wrap around. Lastly, the hours from 10-2 show an increased level of UV rays, so try to minimize time outdoors during this time window.
Should you have any questions on how to protect your eyes this summer, please don't hesitate to call us!
Let's all have a great summer by practicing sun safety!
With Warm Regards,
